“Compliance isn’t about choosing markets. It’s building systems where fragmentation becomes architecture, not afterthought,” Mani says.

Chandrakanth Lekkala, Principal Data Engineer at Narwal.ai, emphasizes structural flexibility. Global expansion demands universal ethical standards combined with localized execution.
“AI leaders must adopt flexible governance architectures by establishing universal ethical principles while allowing localized implementation,” Lekkala says.
That means investing in cross-jurisdictional legal expertise, modular compliance frameworks and privacy-by-design systems that exceed the strictest requirements. Governance must be documented, transparent and adaptable as regulations evolve.
“Treating compliance as competitive advantage enables sustainable market access,” he says.

Recognize Governance as a Leadership Discipline
Divya Parekh, Founder of executive coaching brand DivyaParekh.com, reframes the conversation entirely: For her, global AI divergence is not primarily regulatory—it is leadership-driven.
“This isn’t a regulatory problem. It’s a leadership one,” Parekh says, noting that waiting for cultural consistency slows innovation.

Embrace Adaptive Governance and Technical Flexibility
Sathish Anumula, Enterprise and Business Architect for IBM Corporation, argues that rigid governance models cannot survive global divergence.
“Leaders must stop using one-size-fits-all plans for adaptive governance,” Anumula says.
